4 (Necessary) Beauty Tips For The Fall!
It's finally fall, that means pumpkin spice latte's, fifty degree weather (if you live in a temperate region), and tons of berry hued lips! I cannot believe how quickly this year is flying, but don't we say that every year? LOL. Now that the heat of the summer is finally passed us, it's time to switch up that beauty routine! Here are 4 (Necessary) Tips that will keep you in tip top shape all the way into the Winter!
1. Heavier Moisturizer
Cold, dry air wreaks havoc on your skin. Your skin produces less oil, which means that the moisturizer you used during the summer might not quench it's thirst the way it did when it was ninety degrees and you were practically an oil slick. (Aren't you kind of glad those days are over?!) The Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer has the perfect consistency to properly moisturize and protect the skin from dry air and colder temperatures. (If you have extremely oily skin, Kiehl's offers an oil free version of the moisturizer.) It retails for $27.50 but a little goes a long way, and with the size of the bottle at 4.2 oz, you will have enough product to last you a very long time. (I've consistently used mine, and have had it for about a year.)
2. Lip Balm
Just like your skin, cold, dry air wreaks havoc on your lips too! The skin on your lips is much thinner than the skin that covers most of your body. It is much more susceptible to cracking, which can be not only uncomfortable but attract bacteria to enter our bodies due to our lips coming in contact with foreign items/bodies at all times. My go to is Burt's Bees Mango Lip Balm, and in my opinion it is the most moisturizing lip balm in the Burt's Bees line. The mango butter gives it a sweet scent and flavorful taste (but please don't eat the lip balm). Best of all, it retails for only $3.30! Win, Win, Win.
3. Less Powder, More Spray
That Laura Mercier helped you survive the summer, she kept that makeup on fleek through those humid days, the heat waves and everything in between. Be super thankful for setting powders! (I mean, what did people do before them?) But now that your setting powder has served it's highest purpose it is time to you less of it and focus more on setting your makeup with spray. We don't exactly want to completely eliminate setting powder because it will still help maintain the look of the makeup, but because your oil glands are working less you want to also use less powder to avoid a cakey finish. MAC Prep + Prime Fix+, $23.00 spray is a favorite amongst makeup artists and beauty enthusiasts alike.
Sunscreen in the Fall? Yes! You must continue to use sunscreen, no matter what the temperature is outside. Temperature does not affect the intensity of the sun's rays, which is what truly damages skin if exposed for long periods of time. The sun's rays can even penetrate through clouds! (Yes, you must wear SPF even if it's cloudy, your skin will thank you!) Now I will admit, I am not the best at ALWAYS wearing sunscreen but I try to as much as possible. Using a primer with SPF built in is an amazing way to ensure that you protect your skin everyday! My favorite is the L'oreal Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother Finishing Cream SPF 30, $24.99.
I hope these tips will help you conquer the cooler temperatures. Now you can focus more on what costume you'll wear on Halloween and where you will spend Thanksgiving! I mean, aren't you so excited for the holidays?! What does your routine consist of during the Fall? Comment down below!
