Jeffree Star Cosmetics Skin Frost Review!
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Skin Frost was the absolute highlighter of the summer and I was more than thrilled when I FINALLY got my hands on one. As you guys may know, these highlighters sell out within minutes of release and although the creator is the most controversial figure in the beauty world at the moment, you can not deny that he makes some pretty fucking awesome makeup!
I bought the Skin Frost in "So Fucking Gold" because gold highlighters look awesome with my skin tone, so anything named "So Fucking Gold" is definitely going to end up in my cart while I'm online shopping. The shipping was SUPER quick even though I chose Standard Shipping, I ordered it on a Thursday and received it on Monday (thumbs up for the two business day shipping). The packaging it came in was super cute! Like all Jeffree Star related products everything was pink even the bubble wrap! (That man is really on to something!)
The size of this highlight is ridiculous! It is honestly the biggest highlighter I've ever seen in my life. It holds 15 grams of product compared to the 8 gram standard in most popular powder highlighters. The large size also came with a large mirror so you can use the compact even after you're all done with the highlight (though I can't imagine finishing this highlight in my lifetime, it really is that big in person).
I watch Jeffree Star's Youtube videos all of the time and I would constantly hear him speak of the high level of intensity that the Skin Frosts had. ("A little really does go a long way" - Jeffree Star) We all know the highlight on his face is always blindingly on fleek, but I also put into account that he has years of makeup experience so he know's how to really manipulate his makeup into looking however he wants it to. As soon as I applied it on, I almost passed out when I saw the payoff. It was so intense and beautiful! A little really does go a long way which made me think that with the size and intensity of this highlight, it would probably last you a good three years with consistent use!
So size and intensity are all excellent, but how well can you blend this highlight? I use a tapered highlight brush by Luxie which is my goto highlight brush and had a little bit of a hard time blending the highlight properly. I had my friend Lucy try it as well and she also had a hard time blending it. But it is definitely not impossible, you can get your desired blend with a lighter hand and a couple of extra strokes with your brush. I would also recommend using a fan brush with this highlight for easier blend-ability.
$29.00.. need I say more? For the size and quality of this highlight this is a STEAL! Most mainstream highlighters are $35.00 and up, so you truly can't go wrong. It's almost like you get more than what you payed for!
Overall, I am obsessed with this highlight! I would definitely give it a 9/10. *side note* I was totally heartbroken when I had it in my hand and completely shattered it two days after receiving it. (Totally, my fault but that's a whole 'nother story) I will fix it though and teach you guys how to fix your shattered powder compacts as well. (Totally turning lemons into lemonade kind of situation.) I hope you guys are all doing well, and I want to hear from all of you and what you think of the Skin Frosts in the comments section below!
