It's All About The Skin.
I get asked more about my bare skin than the make up I slather on top of it. LOL. I have pretty good skin genes though I do suffer from the regular sudden breakout before an important event (I'm going through it as we speak). Eighty percent of the stuff I use can be found at your local CVS, Walgreens etc. For the person with normal skin, it's less about brand and more about the type of product and consistent maintenance.
The following sentence will change your life..
In order to maintain healthy skin you must 1.CLEANSE 2.TONE 3.MOISTURIZE (In that specific order). I repeat, CLEANSE, TONE, MOISTURIZE. (And exfoliate once a week [twice maximum]).
Cleansing and moisturizing is what pretty much everyone is familiar with. In a nutshell its washing and putting moisturizer on your face. BUT PLEASEEEEEE, do not use body soap or body moisturizer on your face. The skin on your face is so much more sensitive than the skin on your body, hence why we break out on our faces often. Use a cleanser and moisturizer that is specifically for your FACE. (Don't worry the products I use will be listed below this post)
Some of my Instagram followers will remember this from a while back but toning is the one step that most people aren't familiar with but is extremely important! A toner or astringent is a liquid which will bring your skin back to its ideal pH level and also prepare it for the moisturizer. Also, it'll clean whatever your facial wash left behind. So pretty much it's a win, win, win.
Also, give your skin that extra boost of freshness and exfoliate! Exfoliating will help slather off all those dead skin cells and bring out the fresh skin cells hiding underneath.
P.S. if you wear makeup like I do, please remove your make up before you cleanse the skin with a makeup wipe or some facial oil! Facial washes are meant to clean bare skin and not makeup!
