Advice By Vic!
On the first "Advice By Vic!", I received a question from Gerarldo who asked:
"I'm trying to get into makeup but I'm super scared of what reaction I'll get from people, especially my parents. My dad is super homophobic, any advice on how you started and the reaction you got from your parents?"
First off, thank you so much for reaching out to me! My parents found out I was gay five years ago when a friend's mom called my dad to tell him that I was in a relationship with a boy. (Totally petty, I know) When I was confronted about it, I was initially scared to say that I was gay but I did and I was relieved at how supportive they were about it. My relationship with my dad is now better than ever because I no longer have to hide anything, and can be myself. Your parents might have a hard time adjusting to you coming out, but in the end they will love you as their son. As for makeup, if that's your passion then you should start working on it now! You're young and at a time where the decisions you make today will pave the way for how you want and will live your life. So many people end up not following their dreams and regret it later in life and you don't want to be one of those people! Be positive, maintain humility and work hard and everything will fall into place. I promise!
