What I Learned About Myself This Summer

What I Learned About Myself This Summer

So it's been two weeks since I've uploaded a post and I know you guys are probably like "Oh lord, here we go again", but I promise it was temporary break! These past two weeks I've taken advantage of every moment to reflect and acknowledge the tremendous growth I have experienced in the past three months. Summer 2016 was a summer full of love, wonderful memories and revelations that will continue to inspire a desire to explore my curiosity of the world around me. This is what I learned about myself.

What Defined Me

Before the summer began I was doing extremely well on Instagram as a beauty influencer and created a Youtube channel as an extension to the information I would give to my followers. I felt that I finally found my true calling and that I was for sure meant to be a famous beauty guru. I began posting videos, makeup selfies and then I stopped. I had gotten a little arrogant and thought that the attention would last even without consistency and I got a taste of reality when I began to sporadically post and wasn't receiving the same response as I was before. Everything began to feel like a chore and I started to give into distractions. I began partying often and drinking a lot which began to suck me into a lifestyle that I wasn't accustomed too. I was in a total rut and I began to realize how much followers and likes were defining me. It was an "Ah-hah" moment and as soon as I had this epiphany, I knew that something had to change. Let's be honest, no amount of likes and followers define your character which is what REALLY matters. This is where my life began to get exciting. I began to worry less about the pettiness and drama and began focusing on the positivity and love that surrounded me all of the time. I felt that my purpose was more than just posting makeup selfies and beauty tutorials, I had a little feeling inside that I was and am heading into the right direction.

Friendship

Not the best picture but I couldn't find anymore!

Not the best picture but I couldn't find anymore!

I never considered myself one to be a part of a group. As sad as it may sound, it is really hard to find a group of guys in the gay community that you can trust and have around closely without having your guard up. Like all things in life, some relationships will come out of left field and leave you wondering how you lived all of that time without those people around you. My friends Michael and Sean are more like brothers at this point and my love for them is indescribable. They support me no matter what and after so many failed friendships, I could tell that this time was different. Summer 2016 has me looking forward to all the summers we will spend together! I learned the definition of loyalty, honesty and fun with these two and I will never take them for granted!

Make sure to surround yourself with positive souls that not only encourage, but inspire you as well. It may seem like it's impossible to find good people in today's world but there truly is more good in the world then there is bad. (We just have the bad habit of always focusing on the negative)

The Power of Thought

Thinking is much more powerful than most think. I truly believe that we have the power to manifest our thoughts into reality and the events that have occurred during this summer provide irrefutable proof. Don't get me wrong, you can't just sit on your butt all day thinking about a million dollars and expect it to just appear before you. What I really mean is that the way you think will affect your actions. Your actions will then attract those who will contribute to the manifestation of your goal being made into reality. It's truly a never ending cycle and if you are able to tap into it, you will reap the benefits immensely. Your thoughts will unconsciously push you to make them reality so make sure they are all positive! (I will get more into the power of thought on a later post)

Living In The Now

Living In The Now. What exactly does this mean? The world constantly puts pressure on you to think of what choices you'll make for the future. Whether it's a career choice, what school to go to, and even what partner you choose to be with, everyone always expects you to have your future planned out. We spend so much time thinking of what will happen next that we hardly focus on what's going on right in front of us. What a waste of a life if you looked back and realized that you could hardly remember anything because you were constantly worried about things that hadn't even happened yet. I mentioned how powerful thought is and the key to living in the now is to believe that everything will be alright. If you knew for sure that everything was going to be okay and that you would accomplish everything you set out to accomplish wouldn't you enjoy your life at this very moment? Exactly. Start believing in yourself and realize how amazing everything is going to turn out and you will see how beautiful life begins to feel, right now. The better you become, the better the people and experiences are for you. (The Law Of Attraction!)

Compassion

I've never felt more compassionate for others in my life than I do at this very moment. We become so consumed in our own lives that we forget that others also experience trials and tribulations and a little sign of love and understanding can change not only their day but their outlook on the situation and life. Showing a little compassion will also make you feel better about yourself. (Ever notice how good it feels to do something nice for someone else?) Love and you shall receive an abundant amount of love back! (Did I mention the Law of Attraction?)

All of the things I have learned have inspired me to add content to my blog and Youtube outside of just the realm of physical beauty. I believe that beauty starts from within and I would like to truly explore this inner beauty while also providing tips and tutorials on the external. Anyways, how was your summer? I truly hope it was filled with fun adventures and would love to hear all about it! Remember to live in the now, worry most of what defines your character, surround yourself by only the best people and manifest all those dreams that you're thinking it's reality. You truly have the power to do anything. Use everyday to grow and enlighten your soul.

xoxo.
